Man X is a Raku-fired ceramic sculpture inspired by a carving found on the wooden door of a Yoruba hut. With arms raised, crackled ceramic detailing and a bold X across the torso, the piece carries a strong sense of focus, belief and possibility.

The story behind the figure is that through the power of concentration, he was able to make flames erupt from the fingers of his left hand - a symbol of what can happen when the mind is fully directed.

The 'X' motif is decorative, drawn from African visual symbolism and used here as a striking graphic element.
